Congressman DeFazio asks, but he's denied access

WASHINGTON -- Oregonians called Peter DeFazio's office, worried there was a conspiracy buried in the classified portion of a White House plan for operating the government after a terrorist attack.

As a member of the U.S. House on the Homeland Security Committee, DeFazio, D-Ore., is permitted to enter a secure "bubbleroom" in the Capitol and examine classified material. So he asked the White House to see the secret documents.

On Wednesday, DeFazio got his answer: DENIED.

"I just can't believe they're going to deny a member of Congress the right of reviewing how they plan to conduct the government of the United States after a significant terrorist attack," DeFazio says.

Homeland Security Committee staffers told his office that the White House initially approved his request, but it was later quashed. DeFazio doesn't know who did it or why.

"We're talking about the continuity of the government of the United States of America," DeFazio says. "I would think that would be relevant to any member of Congress, let alone a member of the Homeland Security Committee."

Bush administration spokesman Trey Bohn declined to say why DeFazio was denied access: "We do not comment through the press on the process that this access entails. It is important to keep in mind that much of the information related to the continuity of government is highly sensitive."

Norm Ornstein, a legal scholar who studies government continuity at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, said he "cannot think of one good reason" to deny access to a member of Congress who serves on the Homeland Security Committee.

"I find it inexplicable and probably reflective of the usual, knee-jerk overextension of executive power that we see from this White House," Ornstein said.

This is the first time DeFazio has been denied access to documents. DeFazio has asked Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., to help him access the documents.

"Maybe the people who think there's a conspiracy out there are right," DeFazio said.

Perfect example how this administration views the other branches of Government.

If you do no believe the Bush administration has a fascist/totalitarian government operating folks................ think again.

While I am at it since February the Justice Department has had six high placed officials resign. To date they have not been replaced. Believe the article about the Justice Department running on auto is on truthout.com.

I was wondering and hoping that the administration has run out of possible appointees who would do their bidding?

You know not a day goes by that I do not learn how this administration is continuing to trash the Constitution. They have wiped out the concept of checks and balances.

Cheney and the neocon's are determined to attack iran. Right now Bush has the power of a Dictatorship. What makes us think that the neocons would not have a falseflag nuclear attach. Then Bush could suspend the elections and continue with the New World Order agenda.

Sorry aa, I missed following up on your question. I think if you checked prisonplant.com and went to the broadcast archives for August 8/07 you could hear the interview with Dr. Paul Craig Roberts.

I got a chuckle out of this interview because he told Alex to wait a minuite damn it, (Ales frustrates us all when he constantly interrupts or finishes sentences for people) and called the neocons two bit punks. Sounds like a fisty old guy. He also seemed to know his stuff!

I was not a Reagan supporter. I detested the Iran Contra affair. Every time I see Olie North on TV, I change the channel. But then again I can not remember an administration that I have liked in decades. We all knew somethng was very wrong during the Reagan Administration with the Iran contra affair. Now with Confessions of an Economic Hitman, John Perkins has answered a lot of questions that I had about south America and what we really were up to there. Dr. Roberts answers some of the financial questions I have about what the NWO is doing worldwide.

Sometimes I feel that these people, while serving a particular administration might not have been given the straight scoop. In other words they could have only been given half the story about the New World Order. Then the other part of me knows that anyone who serves in administrations usually knows what's up and how the game is played.
